Colonoscopy Preparation   no comments

Posted at 2:50 am in Uncategorized

Colonoscopy is a procedure in which the interior portion of the large intestine, including the colon and the rectum, is examined. It is mostly used to diagnose intestinal irregularities marked by symptoms such as abdominal pain, rectal and intestinal bleeding or changing bowel movements. The prerequisite to a successful colonoscopy is having a clean bowel so that the examiner can have a clear look at the colon. It is thoroughly important to follow all the prescribed instructions, for a successful colonoscopy or else the examination will not be successful and the test may have to be repeated. Most patients agree the colonoscopy preparation is the worst part, since the procedure takes place after the patient has been sedated, so that they don’t remember it. There are various steps to be followed for its preparation which are listed as follows:

Preparing the Bowel for Colonoscopy

For the colonoscopy preparation, it is important to keep the bowel empty. Preparations also need to be done two to three days beforehand. Doctors recommend a steady liquid diet prior to the examination. A liquid diet may include:

Since the same methods never work for everybody, there are other ways which are preferred by doctors. There are three methods of preparation namely Golytely (also called Colyte or Nulytely), sodium phosphate tablets (Osmo-Prep and Visicol) and phospo-soda.

Golytely

This is one of the prescriptions which requires the doctor’s go-ahead. It consists of a jug with a powder mix. The jug should be capable of holding a gallon of liquid. The drink has to be made out of the powder mix. The instructions included are usually to one 8 oz glass of the mixture every 10 minutes. The procedure is to be repeated till the gallon is exhausted. This will help in clearing out the bowels. In case the procedure is ineffective, one must take an enema.

Sodium Phosphate tablets

These tablets are prescribed by the doctor doing the colonoscopy. The two brands which are recommended and preferred by doctors are Osmo-Prep and Visicol. In Osmo-Prep, the tablets are taken on the eve and the morning of the day, the colonoscopy is scheduled. On the eve of the test the intake of the medicine should be 5 doses; 4 tablets, taken with 8 ounces of clear liquid every 15 minutes (20 tablets in total). On the morning or few hours of the test, 3 doses of 4 tablets every 15 minutes (12 tablets in total).

In case of Visicol, 7 doses are to be taken in 15 minutes or for 6 doses, 3 tablets are to be taken, 2 tablets for 1 dose (20 tablets in total). Few hours before the test, same dosage is repeated. The effects begin to take place one hour after the initial dosage is taken.

Phospho-soda

Phosopho Soda is available as an over-the-counter laxative. It is usually mixed in 3 oz of either water or some other solvent, if the physician permits. The bowel movement can take place from 30 minutes to 6 hours.

Colonoscopy preparation is a procedure that needs to be done with utmost care and caution.

Posted at 2:41 am in Uncategorized

Its always important to keep a track of the CPU temperature while working on a computer. The CPU temperature is a point to be noted since, it can lead to the breakdown of a computer. The temperature of CPU varies from brand to brand.

The computer is a very important part of our lives. It is unimaginable to imagine lives without this machine. Given its importance, utmost care must be taken of it. People usually spend time and money on the monitor or to keep the machine free of viruses but what they forget to take care of the most important part of any computer. This component is the Central Processing Unit or the CPU. In school, children are taught that the CPU is the brain of the computer and all the important functions of the computer take place there. The CPU is also a machine and aspects of it must be scrutinized. For instance, if there is some internal problem, it is a sound idea to check the CPU temperature. This problem may come to light when the heat or the other fans in the tower stop working. This may result in the speed of the computer reducing.

This problem is more complicated than one realizes. Since there are are so many brands of CPU processors and motherboards, it is difficult to determine the mean temperature the CPU should be subjected to. To add to the confusion, the sensor and the software that is used also differs from PC to PC. However after several trial and error methods, it has been determined that the average CPU temperature should never exceed 95C and unit runs between 70C to 90C. To check a temperature, one can boot the computer and go to the BIOS set up and check the temperature there.

There are some other indications that show the computer is not working, the way it should. The signs to watch out for are listed below:

The temperature of every CPU processor is different; for instance, the processor for AMD is usually Idle: 30 to 45 Load: 50 to 70. It is slower and takes more time to heat up as compared to Intel Idle: 40 to 55 Load: 50 to 70.

In case there is overheating, here are some steps that can be taken to bring down the temperature:

192.168.0.1- Figure out the secret behind the digits   no comments

Posted at 2:36 am in Uncategorized

192.168.0.1 is the address that is preferred by most computer administrators and residential broadband users. 192.168.0.1 is easily set up by connecting the router to the computer network. This address needs to be entered on a browser to set up the router’s page.

19216801 is an IP address that is used by most network device manufacturers to set as default Internet Protocol address for home broadband users. The easiest way of setting up the router is to turn on the router and the computer and to connect it to the computer’s network. If one does not have the required network, the router is directly connected to the computer through the provided cables. Next, the browser needs to be opened and this string of numbers (19216801) is used to launch the router’s home page.

As in everything else, to set up a router, one requires a user name and a password to identify the user. For appropriate configuration and for the sake of convenience, every manufacturer provides a unique name and password to access the setup. As per the requirement on a regular basis, one may or may not change the user name or passowrd. The router setup does not come under the category of everyday computer activity. However, if one does change the password, it is advisable to write down the password somewhere secure for the purpose of safekeeping. If all the resorts to regain the lost password fails, the last resort is to reset the router. A button is usually, located, at the back of the router, specifically for this purpose. By applying pressure on it for a recommended amount of time, it helps to reset all the settings, including the password.

Just knowing about IP addresses and setting up a router is not sufficient to learn about computer networking. There are many other aspects that one needs to know about too, to understand the concept. These IP addresses are divided into numerous categories. The previous version was Ipv3, but now the latest one is IPv4 and Ipv5 are still in the pipeline. These IP addresses are classified as private network. A private network is implies that it belongs to a private company.

There are certain terms one needs to familiarize himself such as High Speed Router, Gateway, Caveat and so on. The terms are explained as below:

  1. High Speed Router-DSL routers are frequently exploited by the PC networks. More specifically, the PCs running a LAN have a control over this. These routers are used by home users too. They help to set up fast, effective, online connections. The components are also used in online multiplayer gaming too, apart from setting up a network.
  2. Gateway- The IP address, 19216801, also functions as gateways. These usually allow a subnet to send data to any other subnet. Gatewaty is where the data is processed.

Other Functions:

The address does not assist in the information travel. It also helps in streamlining network and setting up procedures. It nullifies the need to attach or introduce switches of Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol. Though at times, it is usually the default page, it may be modified as per needs of the router. In the case of networks, the capacity is meant for computer administrators. These features make the aforementioned address so popular for connecting PC s throughout numerous LANs.

Andrew Evans and Team Scandia   no comments

Posted at 2:36 am in Uncategorized

1951was the year Andrew Evans was born. At the age of around twelve, he saw a Can-Am race for the first time. The race took place in the year 1963. Like a plant taking root the idea of becoming a race car driver took root. The thrill of going at around hundred miles an hour captivated him. His passion was not limited to racing; he had a passion for race cars.

Andrew Evans favorite company was the Ferrari and he showed this at every possible chance. He began his racing career by choosing to pay his dues. Most drivers do not take this route, but racing was a hobby for him during the 80s. He kept it as a security measure for the bad times, which eventually did come. In the year 1990, he got permission to race in the Camel GT Lights class category of the International Motor Sports Association. Before the decade ended his car was racing on some of the legendary tracks found not only in Europe, but the United States.

Andrew Evans wanted to go further, so he formed his own team, Team Scandia. After forming his team he managed to attract some of the best drivers. The team started racing in some United States’ most competitive races. The team won the ‘12 Hours of Sebring’ using a Ferrari. This hasn’t happened since the year 1972. So to honor this historical moment Ferrari let Andrew Evans directly buy an F 50 which it was leasing out rather than selling it directly.

Pain in your gall? Must be gallstones   no comments

Posted at 2:35 am in Uncategorized

The gall-bladder is an organ situated near the mid- abdominal area of the body. It’s function is to store the bile that is secreted by the liver. Bile is used to dissolve the fat in the food. The bile flows through the gall bladder into the intestine where the fat is digested with the duodenum.

Like every other body part, the gall bladder can also experience some defects or illness. At times, the bile in the gallbladder can materialize into gallstones. Gallstones are usually found in women over the age of 40, who are slightly on the heavier side and are very fertile. Gallstones are primarily made of cholesterol, calcium and salt. This is usually caused by lack of exercise and poor diet.

The symptoms of the gallstones usually start with inflammation of the gallbladder pain and can end up in severe pain. The most dangerous part of this disease is, most people go on for a long time without experiencing the common symptoms. Signs that show that an individual is suffering from this disease include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and so on. What makes the disease so hard to diagnose is the fact the symptoms can also match a heart attack.

Usually gallstones are not very painful and most of the times, the diagnosis is entirely by accident. However at times, there are certain locations that can be inflamed in different parts of the body. This is when it is called a gallstone attack. The attack is in the form of pain can occur in the upper right part of the abdomen. Since the stones in the gall bladder are blocking the bile from being released, the contraction causes pain. The pain can extend to the back between the shoulder blades. Movement of any kind can aggravate the gallbladder pain.

Apart from nausea and vomiting, there are other symptoms of gallstones such as gassiness, which includes passing intestine gas, clay-colored stool, chills, indigestion, jaundice, fever and so on.

The next question is how deadly are gallstones. Gallstones are not commonly dangerous, and they usually pass through a person’s body. But if the symptoms of the gallstones begin to show themselves as an “attack” or an “episode” that is when people should call medical professionals. However it is advisable to go to the hospital if one is suffering from jaundice, severe pain or fever.

In some very rare cases, gallstones can lead to gallbladder cancer. This is very unusual, unless somebody has weight problems and is a heavy smoker. Though there are surgeons that do operate on gallbladder cancers, most of the patients eventually succumb to it.

In not-so-extreme cases, patients have their gallbladder removed, and they can lead normal healthy lives. But, they also need to control their intake of fatty food since the absence of gallbladder, the body is unable to digest fat very well.

Use RJ-11 connectors for instant internet connection   no comments

Posted at 2:35 am in Uncategorized

RJ-11 connector is usually used in phone lines or in modems for lightening fast internet connection. Apart from RJ-11 connector, there are other connectors, such as the RJ-24, RJ-14 and so on.

The RJ-11 connector has 6 connector position, but it uses only two or four, of the six of them. The wiring of this connector comes in 2 standard assortments namely the flat-satin cable, also known as the untwisted and the UTP; Unshielded Twisted Pair. It is the most recognized among the jacks, because it is mostly used in all single line handset jacks, also known as Plain Old Telephone service (POTS). The connector is mostly used in most of the offices and homes of North America and other countries. There are other similar jacks such as the RJ-25 which is used for a three line jack, RJ-61 which is used for a four line handset jack, RJ-14 for a two line handset jack and so on.

As RJ-11 connector uses two or four, out of the given six positions, 6P4C, wiring standards, it indicates that out of the six positions, only four have contacts. Contacts is translated as having both the wires connected to them. The conventional form of standard wiring are used for practical purposes to make sure that the plug fits in smoothly and perfectly. The other left over wires an be used for applications, for instance, they can be used to prevent the pulse dial telephone ringing from ringing the addition phone bells or powering an LED ring-indicator and so on.

In a powered-up state, Pins #5 (yellow- old color code/ orange- new color code) and #2 (black- old color code /white with orange stripe-new color code) may carry either AC or DC power or low voltage from a central transformer plugged in. It is usually plugged near a jack and the aforementioned jack supplies power to each of the other jacks through a circuit. In most of the times, the telephone lines directly supply a huge amount of power for most of the telephone terminals. The telephones of the olden days, such as the Trimline Phone and the old Western Empress Princess, used to contain lights, and need more energy than the usual telephone line supplies. The dial lights need 6.3 volts and the usual transformer output ~5 volts (for a larger battery life). It also depends on whether the wire is of the old or new color code convention (read left to right, while the jack faces towards the person), the positive and negative terminals are: Pin #3 which is a negative terminal ( blue-new color code/red-old color code) and Pin #4 which is a positive terminal (white with blue stripe-new color code/green-old color code). Some of the commonly used Registered Jacks are listed as below:
