Top 10 Fantasy Running Backs for 2011 no comments
The latest fantasy football season is always just around the corner, so it’s time to take a look at the top 10 fantasy running backs for 2011. Grab yourself a Coke (Coca Cola coupons work great), put on your owner’s cap, and get ready to dominate your pals for another year.
Arian Foster (Houston Texans) – Foster came out of nowhere last year, racking up tons of yardage for the struggling Texans. Now in his second year as a starter, expect him to carry the workload once again.
LeSean McCoy (Philadelphia Eagles) – Taking over for Brian Westbrook, McCoy has shown that he’s equally talented at running or receiving. His production does take a slight dip with Michael Vick at quarterback, though, as he tends to run when under pressure instead of dumping off to the running back.
Adrian Peterson (Minnesota Vikings) – The most consistent running back in the game, Peterson gets it done no matter who’s lined up behind center. 2011 will bring a new Vikings quarterback, however, so it’s a situation worth keeping an eye on. Still, he remains a safe #1 pick.
Ray Rice (Baltimore Ravens) – Rice has a number of big games, but he wasn’t quite the powerhouse that many owners has hoped for going into the 2010 season. Still, he’s young and on a solid team, so he should have a solid 2011 campaign.
Jamaal Charles(Kansas City Chiefs) – Despite having to split carries with Thomas Jones, Charles gave the Chiefs a homerun threat every time he touched the ball. As he gets a greater workload in 2011, expect to see his numbers rise.
Maurice Jones-Drew (Jacksonville Jaguars) – While the Jags are an up-and-down team, the diminutive Jones-Drew just keeps racking up the numbers.
Matt Forte (Chicago Bears) – While he can be inconsistent, Forte is a threat in both the running and passing game. Offensive coordinator Mike Martz started running the ball more later in the season, so this could help improve Forte’s numbers. A better offensive line would also be a plus.
Michael Turner (Atlanta Falcons) – Turner got off to a slow start and dealt with nagging injuries, but he still managed to post solid numbers. Expect him to be a solid first-rounder in 2011.
Frank Gore(San Francisco 49ers) – Gore gets hurt every season (missing the last four games in 2010), but he’s a must-start back when healthy. He’ll be back with the Niners in 2011, although continued shaky play from the quarterback position will hurt him.
Darren McFadden (Oakland Raiders) – After a breakout year, there’s little doubt than an owner in the bottom half of the first round will take a chance on McFadden. But the selection is not without its risks, as the running back has shown problems with consistency in the past.
Be sure to clip some Walmart coupons and load up on all the latest fantasy football magazines. This time next year, you’ll probably still be counting all your winnings.
Let’s Learn Some Football Tricks no comments
The men in the NFL are recognized for their skills on the field. Off the field it becomes even more interesting when you see the things they can do with the ball during the times it’s not all about game winning touchdowns and field goals. Most of these football tricks can be seen on youtube and on some myspace pages etc. and you should probably view them as describing them in the way that is done here certainly does not do them justice. These tricks are usually carried out by players who want to get picked for to fantasy football leagues. Many of them can be learned by fans with practice but a few are actually dangerous and shouldn’t be tried at home.
Christ Chambers of the San Diego Chargers manages to catch three footballs: one in each hand and then the third in between the other two. The footballs are thrown from three different persons standing behind him. Chambers turns his back to them and grabs the first and second ball without even looking. With his hands full he neatly catches the third ball that is thrown using the other two. It s a very hard trick to do, especially with your back turned to the people throwing the ball to you.
Chris Cooley of the Washington Redskins shows his strength by actually punching through a wall to catch the football. He knocks on the wall to show that it is solid and then shows to the individual throwing the ball where on the wall he should aim then goes to stand behind it. He gives a signal and the ball is tossed. Amazingly he punches through the solid wall and catches the ball without being able to see it, then pulls his hand, now containing the ball back through the wall.
Mason Crossby of the Green Bay Packers pulls off an amazing feat doing a trick using three footballs and a bell tower. He lines up the balls in a row as though he will be attempting field goals then kicks them one after the other up to the tower and causes the bell to chime.
Laurence Maroney of the New England Patriots demonstrates his ability to get through a small space by running full force at an SUV that has both its front windows down. Incredibly he jumps straight through both windows and emerges untouched on the other side, still holding the ball.
Braylon Edwards of the Cleveland Browns amazingly catches 5 footballs hurled at him from a dispenser while being completely blindfolded. He even turns his back at some one point and still doesn’t miss.
Andre Johnson of the Houston Texans, launches a football himself and then runs the length of the field and catches it.
Jason Campbell of the Washington Redskins throws two footballs toward two receivers that are out on the field. The footballs hit each other and then bounce off each other and spin away into the hands of the waiting receivers.
Marc Bulger of the St. Louis Rams tosses a football at a score card being held up at the end of a field. Demonstrating his amazing aim, he changes the number on the card each time he hits it with the ball.
Chris Simms of the Tampa Bay Bucaneers tosses three footballs into three bins positioned all over the field. To prove that he is indeed gifted, he then hits a bin that is placed in the back of a moving vehicle.

How to Build a Halfpipe? no comments
Before constructing your halfpipe you should figure out the complete dimensions ahead of time, that is, the length and width of the construction. A larger ramp would be best for skaters who would like a bit of challenge and/or who are more experienced. Building a halfpipe is not excruciatingly difficult, but will require a bit of carpentry skill.
Required Materials
¼ Plywood
¾ Plywood
Required Tools
Jigsaw
Nail
Wood Glue
Wood Screws
Roller
Paint Tray
Carriage Bolts
Instructions
1.Begin by constructing a life-sized template of the quarterpipe. You will have to use this as a guide while constructing your halfpipe. Essentially you will be using this to make sure that all your end supports are identical in size. You may use ¼ plywood to make your template.
2.Join the pieces that you have formed using duct tape or if you want to be a little bit more exact, use a bit of ¾ ply to make scab plates that you then may join together with regular wood screws.
3.Cut your ply in half along the length, you will be getting more out of the wood by doing this.
4.Cut off a portion of about 2 feet from one of your pieces of ply and join/scab it to the full length piece that has been left uncut. By doing this you should now have created a 2ft by 10ft rectangular base.
5.Then you will need to build a 5 foot square that you will then jin to your rectangular structure, it will look like a very large boot when you are done.
6.Mark out your radius using your nail as a pivot. The radius should extend from the top corner to the lower corner that falls just benaeth the nail.
7.Utilizing a jigsaw cut out the radius for your template.
8.Now you can utilize your quarterpipe to make your end panels. Building your end panels by using two layers of ¾ inch plywood. You will need to laminate the two together to ensure that it remains stable while being use. This can easily be achieved by using wood glue to attach them together. Put some wood glue within a paint tray and get a roller and place a thin layer of one glue on the area to be laminated. Place the top layer over this layer and make sure that the edges are even. Let this set for 24 hours. Once it has set you may use your template to build the end panels. Cut these out using a jigsaw.
9.Once more you will utilize your template, this time to create intermediate supports. Make scab plates from ¾ ply joined together, make sure that the scab plates are at least two inches away from the edges.
10.Cut a few 2 by 4s into approximately 3feet by 9 inches in length. Ensure they are cut symmetrically.
11.These 2 by 4s can then be laid on your structure to make the flooring. Nail these in adequately with a hammer and a couple wood nails.
12.The most important part of the process is creating your support frame. This will allow the halfpipe to support your weight. You may choose to create additional support by anchoring your structure to a building. When you have chosen the type of framing you will utilize, anchor this to the almost finished structure using carriage bolts.
13.Then create your riding surface using 3/8 inch cdx ply for greater flexibility. Run the layers in the same direction making sure that the end joints are set up unevenly for extra strength. Screw these layers unto your flooring when you have laid them out properly.
Tips and Warnings
You can actually get your ground more level by shimming beneath the framing. However, if you are doing this make certain it is executed properly as this can result in a unstable overall structure.
Your halfpipe should not wobble, if this happens you may need to anchor it with a bit of concrete. You may do this by putting your quarter pipes into the ground for extra stability.

Football Programmes
With the growth of the tv media in recent years, it is simpler than ever to check on the popular sporting events with local stations, cable, dish or even the internet. True sporting (and by sporting I mean football) fans will not only be involved in the game play, but the players, their stats, wellness and planned scoring and game patterns thoroughout their careers; the coaches with their training and game play techniques, the managers and yes, even the cheerleaders. The most fun way to follow all of these is throug good football programmes on TV, the internet and radio.
Where to look for updates:
Team webpages
Begin with the website of your favourite football team. They enjoy publicity and will declare ( ordinarily on the front page) all media appearances that managers and team members are scheduled to make far in advance of the dates. This is particularly helpful if you want to make it to live shows on call-in radio programmes or live appearances and autograph signings that themselves are pretty much guaranteed to turn up on a programme themselves. This only works for professional teams and you should remeber that good programme updates will decrease during the off season when appearances are more geared toward endorsements etc. rather than actual game play.
Before the game:
Before every game, stations will host their individual pregame programmes to permit viewers catch up on what they may have missed with their teams. These are informative as you get the most recent info on who will game favourites, team and player histories and trends for the season, projections and expected performance in that particular game. The format is ordinarily the same across the board with a panel of about 3 5 indiviudals from a variety of disciplines including sports news casters, retired players and even the occasional fan.
View cable and local network websites (for example you can check ESPN, FOX, CBS, ABC, NBC) that will provide game converge to get times for team games). Pre games shows will begin anywhere from thirty minutes to an hour in advance and will continue right up until the teams are coming onto the field.
Post game:
It s not through when the game is. If you missed the pre game show, there is invariably the post game show. These tend to recap the plays that took place, referee calls, coaching schemes and the overall performance of the players.
On the internet:
The World Wide Web is an excellent source to find football programmes. Any fan can start their own video blog and commentate just like the pros do about performance and game play. Unfortunately, not many fans is knowledgeable as the pros do and the information you hear from these, though absorbing, in all probability should not be cited unless you can verify it. Umpteen rumours of player trades, team sales, draft picks and even injuries began because of fan media websites. Aside from of actual game play, fan sites can get very face-to-face with their commentary, delving into personal lives of the teams. If that s not an aspect you are interested in when looking for football programmes then its best to stick to official programming sources.

Football on TV
Football doesn’t necessarily have the distinction of being called the big American hobby, but it certainly should and with good reason. The game play is thrilling, it is a means to gather the family, grow squad spirit in high schools, Colleges, Universities and Communities cheering for a particular squad sets their individual campuses and neighborhoods ablaze with squad colors, tail gating parties and gatherings. Following your favorite team by attending each and every game can get costly. With plane fares for out of state games, plus the price of season tickets if your team goes all the way to the finals will make you tally a pretty hefty fan tab (and we haven’t even gotten to the price of memorabilia). It is also extremely hard to get tickets to major events such as the Super Bowl. Following a squad or just catching up with local and out of state games becomes much simpler and quite a bit cheaper when you are able to watch football on TV.
Football TV schedules
The first thing you will need to find are the local schedules for games have an interest in. For professional games, NFL.com possesses the most comprehensive schedule of all Pre, Regular and Post season games as well as yearly matchups. NFL.com lists the shows by date time and channel so that you will never miss a game.
A little well known resource that is increasing in popularity is the506.com. It has maps that show the game locations and football TV schedules for the NFL season for FOX and CBS. It was made by a fan who finds the data from titantv.com, tv.yahoo.com and zap2it.com and foxsports.com. The maps are updated on Wednesday night or Thursday afternoon for that weekend’s games. With revisions and corrections on Friday if called for.
ESPN is of course an all in one resource for everything football related. The only drawback viewing their website is that they will only list the schedules for their own network. Their site conveniently lists game outcomes, game spotlights, articles and bios on stars and up and comers as well as the all important schedules. There are fun features such as countdown clocks to the NFL draft and contests and special sections that let fans win tickets to various games.
Other than ESPN, College football teams get a little harder to follow on TV, particularly if you are in a different state from your home team and can t get typical updates from local radio and stations and papers. Games from smaller schools may be broadcast on local college stations while fans of popular universities such as Louisiana State, Penn State, and Ohio State can watch games on major network stations such as ESPN, COX and CBSC. Game schedules can be found on the each special teams website, usually listed by Time, Network and the in some cases the replay schedule in case you miss the live broadcast. ABC, NBC, TBS and FOX will also broadcast college games; their schedules are also available on their respective websites.

Let’s Know About Football Ball no comments
Football Ball
‘Football’ is the name given to various balls used in quite a few different sports however, the one looked at here is the one used to play soccer. In the past things like a pig’s bladder were used as balls however, technology has eliminated the need for that and a modern football ball is made by engineers to very precise stipulations.
In football the official ball used is spherical in shape. It is made of leather or some other fitting material like polyurethane and possesses 32 stitched leather panels that create a ball’s skin. The ball is normally 27-28 inches in circumference and weighs about 14-16 ounces when it is dry. This is the ball used in football championship games and it is used by players over 12 years old.
Official balls are a size 5 however, smaller sizes exist and are used in children’s games or just as a toy. Size 1 balls are small balls that are used for promotional purposes. They are 17 inches in circumference or less and they are normally made of synthetic material.
A size 2 ball is in some cases used for promotional reasons too, or for training sessions. It is usually made of synthetic material, plastic or PVC and is no bigger than 22 inches. It is used in games for children less than 4 years old and for increasing a person’s ball handling skills.
The size 3 ball is used in games between children under 8 years of age and is around 24 inches in circumference. It also is made of synthetic materials or PVC and is the official ball used in handball games.
Size 4 balls are used in games between children 8-12 years of age. They are about 26 inches in circumference and are usually made of leather or some like material. The size 4 ball is the official ball used for playing futsal which is a variation of soccer played on a smaller playing surface indoors.
Older footballs possessed 18 oblong, non-waterproof leather panels on the surface of the balls, similar to the design seen on volleyballs. The panels were laced together to give quick access to the pig bladder inside if required. Footballs are still created with this design but are not as common and are not used in official games.
Balls such as the one used in gaelic football moreover has 14 panels and a ball made by Mitre had 26 panels. In the 2006 FIFA world cup an Adidas ball was used which was a machine-pressed, thermally bonded ball but this was the first of its kind in an official tournament.
There are also balls made for indoor use that are made of just one or two pieces of plastic. Typically designs are printed on these balls to make them look like official stitched leather balls.
The oldest football known was discovered in the Stirling Castle and dates back to 1540. It was created of leather – either a deer or pig’s bladder and was around 15 cm in circumference.

What is a Boxing Bag? no comments
BOXING BAG
Boxing is a martial art form of sport involving two individuals of equal weight fighting with their fists. The sport is played by males or women. The game is closely monitored by a referee who will determine the person coming out as the victor at the end of the game. The game consists of different rounds normally three-minute rounds and there are three approaches to win. If one contestant is knocked out and is unable to get up before the referee counts to ten seconds, the contestant standing is the victor of the match. If one contender is considered too injured to keep on fighting then the next player is deemed the winner. At times the contestants will go round after round without stopping. In this case, the referee will settle on a champion or the judges’ scores will determine the champion.
Boxing is still a famous sport today but it was more famous and cheered on in the late seventies and eighties. It is not as popular as some games where the moment you mention a player’s name for example Michael Jordan the sport is known. You may bring up a boxer’s name and young persons are confused. Two of the most well-known boxers are Mohammed Ali and Mike Tyson.
Boxing is an thrilling, anaerobic sport and thus the significance of training and ample preparation cannot be overlooked. The throwing of punches rapidly round after round while facing an opponent with the same target in mind is not an easy task. Consequently, a boxer must be ready to fight with intensity and his body must be conditioned to keep up with the same strong punches from start to the end of a match. To train successfully, it is crucial to have the relevant equipment necessary. One item that significantly helps to prepare a boxer for the ring is a boxing bag.
A boxing bag, also known as a punching bag is a unique workout tool that boxers use as part of their training in throwing punches and improving various punching techniques. It is a very heavy bag, hence it is also called a heavy bag. There are four main types of boxing bags:
1.The first bag is the basic kind to start out with since it is created for basic training. The ideal starter bag should be half your body mass. Let’s say your weight is 140 pounds, your bag must be 70 pounds.
2.The next bag is one that weighs twenty pounds less than your basic bag. This bag is used to increase your speed by throwing quick jabs, not hard punches else it will fly everywhere. This is also appropriate for children who like the excitement of boxing and may be training with an adult. Using the example above, this bag would be 50 pounds.
3.The next bag that is necessary for training is one that is heavier than the light bag, about 20 pounds more. The aim of this bag is to build up strong punches. This would weigh 90 pounds based on the example used.
4.The next bag is geared at getting the boxer developed. This bag is not bullet-shaped like the others but has a wide, extended upper half bulging out providing a perfect contact position. It is heavier than your basic bag and is ideal for building power-packed blows. It may be a little harder to train with if you are not familiar with one.
Tip:
It is suggested that you purchase a boxing bag stand to support your bags. The stands are specifically designed to bear the weight of the bags and to endure the jerks and movements throughout forceful training exercises.

Sports – Basketball Tricks no comments
If you play or are interested in playing basketball you will be required to be aware of the various basketball tricks used in the game. There are many trick moves that are used to pass around defenders and score points. Here are a few of them.
In the crossover, the ball is dribbled in one hand and bounced to switch it to the other hand, changing the speed at which the ball is moving and throwing off the opponent. In other words if you are dribbling with your right hand, the crossover is performed by bouncing the ball from your right hand to your left. This move is very effective for throwing off a defender and in some cases the defender falls in an attempt to intercept the crossover. Another basketball trick is to pass the ball between your legs; when dribbling the ball with one hand, touch it in such a way that it moves sideways as opposed to straight up and down and pass it between your legs. You may do this as many times as you desire but be careful not to travel with the ball when you are doing this trick.
Another trick move in basketball is the wraparound where the ball handler dribbles the ball behind his/her back and passes it to his/her other hand, to what is done in the crossover move. The wraparound enables the ball handler to go forward even though the defender is moving in towards him/her. In a spin move the ball handler turns his/her body to change the direction he/she is facing and places his/her body between the ball and the defender. This move takes some practice however, because the quick turn can leave the ball handler disoriented. But if carried out correctly it may also dazzle and disorient the defender enabling the ball handler to escape.
The behind the back dribble is simply a crossover move performed behind your back, there is also a variation where the ball is switched from hand to hand behind the back without being bounced but you have to be careful when performing the no bounce variation. Because it will be considered a carry if done incorrectly. This trick allows the ball handler to stall for time and take a quick look around the court while maintaining control of the ball. It is helpful in situations where you have to outrun a defender, or when your teammates are unavailable for a pass.
There are numerous other trick moves used in basketball that are useful for various instances you will face throughout the game. There are several video tutorials online that will show you exactly how they are performed if you are interested in learning. Of course these moves will take a lot of practice to perfect but if you experience any kind of pain while performing any of the moves, do not attempt that move again until the pain goes away because you can injure yourself.
Interesting Basketball Shots no comments
Basketball is a sport played by 2-5player teams. The objective is to score points by placing a ball through a hoop 10 feet off the ground. Basketball has grown in popularity over the years and is now one of the most common sports worldwide. Different techniques used in basketball include dribbling, shooting and passing. There are many different shooting techniques used in basketball to get points, let us look at a few fundamental ones.
A layup is a shot that is made by leaping from below the net, pushing the ball up close to the basket and tipping it over the rim and into the basket with one hand. Otherwise the ball might be bounced off the backboard instead and into the basket. All moves involving this type of one-handed reach and action is called a layup and is considered the most fundamental shot in basketball.
Basically there are 2 sorts of layups, the underarm layup and the over arm layup. While there are many various types of layups, they all fall into one of these 2 classes.
An undefended layup is a very successful shot and is when the ball handler manages to get up to the basket without a defender going up also to try to block him off. The main obstacle in doing a layup shot is going around the blocks of the taller defenders therefore if the shot is unblocked it will surely be more successful.
A slam dunk which is perhaps the most recognized of all basketball shots is basically a layup done by a player tall enough to reach over the rim of the basket, who then drops or slams the ball into the basket from above instead of just tipping it over the rim. A safer layup is done by holding the ball in both hands as opposed to just one and taking 2 steps to the basket.
The finger-roll is a type of underarm layup which entails the use of the wrist and the fingers to ‘lay’ the ball in the basket. The movement of the wrist and fingers causes the ball to spin and roll around the rim before dropping into the basket.
A jump shot is another common basketball move in which the player jumps straight up and throws the ball while in mid-air into the basket. The jump shot is considered the simplest long-range shot and has the benefit of being difficult for a defender to block but taller defenders will make it a difficult move to carry out. A variation of the jump shot is a turnaround jump shot in which a player turns in mid-air to make the shot
Another basketball shot is the bank shot which relies on the backboard for getting the ball into the basket. It is primarily used in mid-range jump shots. The purpose of the bank shot is to hit the backboard at an angle which slows the ball down and heightens the probability of it dropping through the basket.
