Top 10 Fantasy Running Backs for 2011   no comments

Posted at 11:42 am in Hobbies,Sports

The latest fantasy football season is always just around the corner, so it’s time to take a look at the top 10 fantasy running backs for 2011. Grab yourself a Coke (Coca Cola coupons work great), put on your owner’s cap, and get ready to dominate your pals for another year.

Arian Foster (Houston Texans) – Foster came out of nowhere last year, racking up tons of yardage for the struggling Texans. Now in his second year as a starter, expect him to carry the workload once again.

LeSean McCoy (Philadelphia Eagles) – Taking over for Brian Westbrook, McCoy has shown that he’s equally talented at running or receiving. His production does take a slight dip with Michael Vick at quarterback, though, as he tends to run when under pressure instead of dumping off to the running back.

Adrian Peterson (Minnesota Vikings) – The most consistent running back in the game, Peterson gets it done no matter who’s lined up behind center. 2011 will bring a new Vikings quarterback, however, so it’s a situation worth keeping an eye on. Still, he remains a safe #1 pick.

Ray Rice (Baltimore Ravens) – Rice has a number of big games, but he wasn’t quite the powerhouse that many owners has hoped for going into the 2010 season. Still, he’s young and on a solid team, so he should have a solid 2011 campaign.

Jamaal Charles(Kansas City Chiefs) – Despite having to split carries with Thomas Jones, Charles gave the Chiefs a homerun threat every time he touched the ball. As he gets a greater workload in 2011, expect to see his numbers rise.

Maurice Jones-Drew (Jacksonville Jaguars) – While the Jags are an up-and-down team, the diminutive Jones-Drew just keeps racking up the numbers.

Matt Forte (Chicago Bears) – While he can be inconsistent, Forte is a threat in both the running and passing game. Offensive coordinator Mike Martz started running the ball more later in the season, so this could help improve Forte’s numbers. A better offensive line would also be a plus.

Michael Turner (Atlanta Falcons) – Turner got off to a slow start and dealt with nagging injuries, but he still managed to post solid numbers. Expect him to be a solid first-rounder in 2011.

Frank Gore(San Francisco 49ers) – Gore gets hurt every season (missing the last four games in 2010), but he’s a must-start back when healthy. He’ll be back with the Niners in 2011, although continued shaky play from the quarterback position will hurt him.

Darren McFadden (Oakland Raiders) – After a breakout year, there’s little doubt than an owner in the bottom half of the first round will take a chance on McFadden. But the selection is not without its risks, as the running back has shown problems with consistency in the past.

Be sure to clip some Walmart coupons and load up on all the latest fantasy football magazines. This time next year, you’ll probably still be counting all your winnings.

Poker Strategy Basics   no comments

Posted at 4:25 pm in Entertainment,Games,Hobbies

Poker is unlike most other gambling games, because your decisions have a mathematical effect on your chances of winning or losing. When you spin a roulette wheel, for example, the odds are fixed. Your chances of landing on black are a little less than half, so an even money bet provides the house with an advantage, and that’s how the casinos make their money. But in poker, you can decide whether or not to put more money in the pot based on what cards are in your hand and what cards you think are in your opponent’s hand. And if you’re better at making these kinds of judgment calls, then you can put more money in the pot when the odds favor you, and get away from pots where the cards don’t offer you an advantage.

So to learn how to play poker well, you need to learn an approach to the game–the poker strategy basics. The approach I recommend is a tight aggressive approach. This means that you fold often, only playing and only putting money into the pot when you have good quality cards in your hand. This way you’ve got a good chance of winning a showdown with an opponent. The other aspect of that approach is aggression. When you DO play a hand, you should bet and raise with it, rather than just checking or calling. You want to increase the chances of your opponents folding, so that you can win pots without having to go to a showdown. And when you have good hands and they do call you down, you want to win a lot of money from the pot. The way to get that money into the pot is to bet into it.

Those are the basics of poker strategy. But what are good cards and bad cards? I’ll use Texas holdem as an example, but it varies depending on what kind of poker game you’re playing. In Texas holdem, any pair is a potentially good starting hand. The higher the rank of the pair, the stronger it is. A pair of aces or a pair of kings is as good a starting hand as you could hope for. A pair of queen, jacks, or tens is pretty good. Pairs of nines or lower are often playable, but you need a favorable flop later to make them worth it to continue playing.

Other playable starting hands in Texas holdem include suited connectors. These are two cards which are consecutive in rank, like the nine and the ten, and that are also suited. These are speculative, because in order to win a showdown, you’re probably going to need to hit a flush or straight.

The best way to learn poker strategy is by playing, thinking about what happened, and reading. Start by playing micro stakes poker, if it’s legal to play Internet poker where you live. At a micro stakes poker table, you get a real poker experience. Even with only a penny or two per bet on the line, people behave differently than they do when they’re just playing for play money poker chips. When you get more confident in your abilities, you can move up to low stakes and mid stakes and beyond.

Romantic Comedy Movies   no comments

Romantic Comedy Movies

There seem to be two types of romantic comedy movies: chick flicks and teen sex comedies. The latter might not fit into the category, though most of them involve romance interspersed with comedic scenes. For the sake of our discussion here, let’s focus on chick movies.

Romantic Comedies

When Harry Met Sally (1989) – Take Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan, set it in New York City, and add a great soundtrack of romantic tunes, and you get a classic of the genre.

Sleepless in Seattle (1993) – This found Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan at the height of their powers of likableness. When a man’s wife dies, his grieving carries on for too long, and his 10-year old son calls in to a national radio show to get relationship advice. The caller ‘Sleepless in Seattle’ becomes a national sensation, getting the attention of a columnist for a Baltimore publication, who is engaged (but infatuated by this mysterious ‘Sleepless’).

You’ve Got Mail (1998) – The last hurrah for Meg Ryan as everyone’s favorite love interest. Co-starring Tom Hanks in a modern remake of 1940′s Shop Around The Corner, starring James Stewart and Margaret Sullavan.

Annie Hall (1977) – Just about any Woody Allen film fits into this category, but this was the best and freshest of the bunch. You either love or hate Woody Allen movies, so keep that in mind when taking my advice to rent it.

Sabrina (1954) and Sabrina (1995) – Both of these are worthy films. The first stars Humphrey Bogart, the underrated William Holden, and Audrey Hepburn. The remake stars Harrison Ford, the underrated Greg Kineer, and Julia Ormond. Both give you everything you want in a romantic comedy.

Roman Holiday (1953) – Back when Audrey Hepburn was the queen of romantic movies. Gregory Peck is the no-nonsense American reporter in Italy. Audrey Hepburn plays a crown princess (from who-knows-where) who runs into the city of Rome to see the sights, and gets the tour from Gregory Peck. Also features Eddie Albert in a charming role as the roguish sidekick to Mr. Peck.

There are so many other romance films to choose from, but those are a good start.

How to Be a Gangster   no comments

Posted at 10:48 am in Hobbies

Are you wondering how to be a gangster?

There are many attitudes, personalities, and characteristics that create a person’s identity. Most of one’s personal identity comes as a by-product of his or her environment. For that reason, many people identify and take on the role of others around them. However, influential individuals such as actors, entertainers, and sports celebrities can be just as influential as one’s environment. Many people see the lifestyle and comradery associated with gangs and the gangster lifestyle as glamorous and lucrative, which is why many young adults appear to dress and talk like gangsters whom he or she may see on television. However, if one wants to truly become a gangster, there are some realistic aspects of life that he or she should become familiar with.

Running Numbers
Traditionally, numbers games and bookmaking were the bread and butter for a true gangster and almost all members of organized crime had to learn this rookie trade. Numbers games revolved around a localized lottery for which people in the general community would participate. A numbers runner would gather everyone’s money and give the participants a lottery style ticket. Community numbers games could be for a few hundred dollars all the way up to ten thousand dollars, depending on how large the illegal lottery.

Also, just as the federal government now runs its lotteries, gangsters had many different numbers games one could play. However, during the 1980′s, the government would take over the organized crime’s numbers games when they legalized state lotteries where as the proceeds would go back into the educational system of that state. This would put a pinch on gangsters’ numbers games although there are still small time numbers runners in a few neighborhoods.

Bookmaking
Another key aspect of a rookie gangster’s lifestyle is the act of bookmaking. Bookmaking is when one takes illegal bets on sporting events, horse races, car races, and practically anything else that large numbers of people wish to place bets on. The bookie would gather everyone’s money and usually had a backer that would take the bets at the their own set number of odds. The odds that were given on sporting events were normally based on daily newspaper estimates by sports writers although there was a nominal mark-up. Numbers running and bookmaking were the occupation of many a small time gangster in their early years of organized crime. Once a lifelong criminal received a promotion within the crime syndicate, he or she became the backer and would have his or her own lackey to make the hustle.

Organized and Pre-Meditated Theft
Once a gangster has moved on from the art of bookmaking and running numbers, many will move on to organized theft. Organized theft involves both breaking and entering as well as theft of truckloads of valuable merchandise. Breaking and entering mainly involves gaining illegal entry into a residence or place of business to steal valuable items and products. Breaking and entering offers the most risk for those involved as he or she will have to think about the possibility of a home owner with loaded guns, alarm systems, guard dogs, and a host of other deterrents that people use to protect their valuables. Along with deterrents, gangsters that break into homes and businesses also have to worry about being caught by the police. If caught, breaking and entering is a felony and can carry a stiff prison sentence.

Organized theft is slightly more safe than burgling, however, it too, can be dangerous. Organized theft revolves around a tip given to a gangster that certain valuable merchandise will be en route or sitting at a certain point. The gangster will then have to coordinate efforts to have the right people in place to steal the truck load of alcohol, tobacco, or other valuable items, which means one will have to find the right men for the job. For instance, if a gangster has planned to steal a truck load of items sitting unattended at a truck stop, he or she would have to hire someone with experience in driving an eighteen wheeler. For top of the line gangsters, he or she may offer the driver a part of the profits for driving the truck to a location specified by the gangster.

Murder
In traditional organized crime families, the act of murder usually was committed by hitmen who specialized in homicide although it was done by others if the need would arise. However, in the new-age gangster lifestyle, murder is a skill that many gangsters feel the need to be efficient. This is unfortunate as it leads some younger generations to believe that hip-hop gangsters are murderers and when another person commits a wrong, he or she must be killed. The reality of the situation is that many rappers are actually people who were not brought up in an actual gangster lifestyle, just as many of the younger generations that tend to emulate that lifestyle. Most people are incapable of murder, and, if one does murder another, he or she must deal with that fact for the rest of their lives. Only very few people are capable of killing another human being without feeling any remorse.

Gangster Lifestyle
Living as an actual gangster is not as it is portrayed on television. It is not about the bling, the sex, or the violence but more or less someone who takes calculated risks by understanding the odds of the situation he or she will be presented with. Most true gangsters are very low key and do not advertise their chosen occupation to anyone. Those who wear gang colors and flash signs, paint their gang insignias on street signs and other public places are not participating in gangster activity. That type of behavior is based on senseless acts of violence and has caused the death of many a young man and woman due to that type of behavior. The gangster lifestyle has a number of pitfalls and traps for one to fall into and very few people are able to achieve lifetime status as a gangster who lives without reservations and fear.

Posted at 2:47 am in Hobbies

Crochet is a process in which fabric is made by using thread or yarn and a hook. Crochet is similar to knitting as both methods involve pulling loops of yarn through other loops. The only disparity is that just one loop is used at one time and a crochet hook is used instead of needles. 2. Single crochet

3. Half-double crochet

4. Double crochet

5. Treble

6. Double treble

7. Triple treble

8. Slip stitch

HOW TO CROCHET

Crochet hook

Crochet yarn

3. Draw another loop through that loop and repeat until you have made a number of loops and is able to hold the yarn reasonably firm, i.e., not too tight and not too loose.

4. Next you are going to single crotchet. To do this, hold the chain and insert the hook into the second chain from the hook.

5. Bring the yarn over the hook like you did when you were creating the chain and pull it through the chain that you inserted the hook into. You must have two loops on your hook.

6. Bring the yarn around the hook and draw it through the two loops on the hook to create the single crochet.

7. To create the next stitch, insert the hook again, this time into the next chain on the row of chains and replicate the exact procedures at #5 and #6.

8. Continue until you complete the row where you should now form a chain so as to begin row 2. This chain is called the turning chain.

9. Turn your work so that the row you just finished is in front of you. Insert the hook beneath the two top loops nearest to it.

10. Yarn over and pull the loop through to make two loops on the hook.

11. Bring the yarn over the hook and pull through again. Replicate until you have finished the row and practice until you are ready advance to other types of stitches.

Perform a Hard Flip   no comments

Posted at 1:21 am in Hobbies

A ‘flip trick’ in skating is any move where the skateboard rotates in one direction or the other – end over end or upside down; the majority of flip tricks commence with an ollie – meaning with no hands, or else they may be impossible to perform. Flip tricks may be done as the skater is immobile but the majority are performed when rolling.

There are countless flip tricks including the kick-flip, the heel-flip, the pop shove-it, the nightmare flip, the impossible flip, and the karate flip, just to identify a few. Many times, more basic moves are combined to create more complex arrangements such as a laser flip, that combines a heel-flip and a 360 shove-it, or a hard flip, which as the term suggests, is awkward and not easy to pull off; it consists of a pop shove-it combined with a kick-flip. If an individual wants to learn more about the many various flip combinations he/she can browse through a few of the video lessons online however, here are some tips on doing a hard flip.

A hard flip is completed in such a way that the skateboard revolves between the skater’s legs and appears to also be traveling vertically. The board flips end over end rearward (does a back-flip) and at the same time does a half rotation. For training purposes it is safer to attempt the trick while still nonetheless it is easier to do while rolling because of the momentum.

To perform a hard flip, begin with a back kick; use your back foot to kick down the back end of the board, more to the side nearest to your heel; so if you are going left, you would kick down on the left edge of the tail to pull off both the back-flip and the half rotation. During landing, stomp down hard to seize the board and land safely.

For a hard flip, one’s feet must be turned more frontward than usual; when you kick the back, heave your front foot up and lightly off the edge of the board to achieve the half rotation, heaving your front foot off overly hard will cause the board to flip totally over. You will have to jump far to avoid coming down on the board while one end is still turned up; moreover you have to open your legs far apart to allow the board enough room to flip between them.

If you are a young skateboarder just beginning, you should know how to skateboard properly, here are a few skateboarding tips for beginners to help you get started. Start with jumping on and off the board when on a non-slippery surface; try different foot positions and standing on the board. Next try pushing off on a level surface or a shallow hill, and pushing yourself during riding; moreover practice turning by switching your weight. Finally try stopping with foot-breaking, heel drag, bail, etc.

It is advised to gain mastery of the ABC’s before endeavoring to pull off any advanced moves or great speed however, once a person are certain sufficiently concerning your abilities, you may attempt additionally advanced tricks.

Braid Fishing Line   no comments

Posted at 8:43 am in Hobbies

A braiding fishing line is one of the earliest brands of fishing lines that is still in popular use up to this time because of its extremely sturdiness. This brand of fishing line is compilled from merging different synthetic fibers formed with each other. Originally braid lines were created from natural fibers until recent times when the manufacturers began to merge the man-made fibers such as Micro-dyneema, Spectra and Dacron. These fibers helps to produce a fishing line that has more advantages than that of the regular fishing line manufactured from monofilament components and is often referred to as a super line. This characteristic has caused it to become even more popular over the last couple of years and have produced several different quality make to choose from like spiderwire, powerpro and whiplash.

The strength of the braid fishing line allows it to be very good opposing agent to the abrasion that causes other fishing lines to wear out quickly and snap so it stays much longer than the normal fishing line. They also do not stretch as much as other lines, so they are much more sensitive and this allows an angler to feel the least amount of nibbles from a fish. Most fishers who use them have to use scissors to cut them instead of clippers. Braided lines can be successfully installed on any type of fishing reel and are most well known as excellent lines for bait casting spools, specifically for trolling. If you use it make sure that your fishing rod is able to properly handle it.

Braided lines are made with a tinier diameter, so they are very limp and don’t contain any spool memory like that of monofilament lines which means the cord is not able to coil as it comes off the reel. Since they drift so well, they are ideal lines for top water baits. They also have very minimal stretch so that the fish bait can be easily pulled away from a fish.  However, you must setup a drag set so that a fish is not able to rip the hooks out of its mouth if it attempts to makes a strong run right at the boat. Braid fishing lines work particularly excellent for specific fishing situations however, they still do contain some drawbacks that can sometimes outweight the advantages.

At times the toughness of braided lines can also turn into a weakness. An inexperienced fisherman can slice his hands on these line as if he grips the line too hard when trying to pull it free from being caught in a tree or rock. Furthermore braided lines are much more expensive than other brands of fishing lines because the manufacturing process are much more expensive than that of monofilament lines so this expense is passed down to the customer and results in it being more pricey than the other kinds.

Generally braided lines are more opaque in the water than other lines which makes it more noticeable to the fishes so more fishermen refuse to use it in plain waters because it is easier to see it can easily spook the fish, especially on finesse baits where you are trying to entice a fish to nibble a lure they can see for a long time. Fishers have however, discovered a solution for this by connecting a monofilament at the end of the braided fishing line to serve as a leader to reduce the high perceptibility of the braided fishing line.
