Hormones are essential characters in our body that human being cannot live without. Estrogen dominance is a hormone found in both men and woman. They vary in number but all have a specific purpose to achieve. They attribute to different characteristics in both genders. This hormone is more effective in woman and can either increase or decrease the growth rate of a woman. Increase or decrease of hormone in the body can either cause a positive response to the body or a negative one. Most women experience a hard time adjusting to physical changes which are triggered by this hormone. Increase in body weight is the first sign of an increase in estrogen. It is also responsible for regulating menstrual cycle for pregnant women. Increase of estrogen in the body can be controlled using medical pills and medical therapy. This medical therapy is an essential benefit for women with unbalanced estrogen.

In recent times, neurological disorders are becoming prevalent in the society due to so many reasons. One of the reasons for this is that so many people are under stress in their work places. Disorders are not only the problem of adults, but for children also who were made to work under pressure at home and also in their schools. Most of these children are suffering from peer pressure and parents are at a loss as to what to do to ameliorate it. Study has shown that the main issue that causes neurological disorder is from environmental hazards such as excessive drinking, smoking etc.

Most children who have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) problems (which is categorised under neurological disorders) have being traced to mothers who smoked or drink during the pregnancy period. This can bring about neurological disorders and the children born under such circumstances are likely to weigh less or delivered before the actual time. Now, when such children are giving birth to, they face learning problems in their schools. They also have inferiority complex and become lost in their own world. Some of them become incompetent individuals. This is known as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity disorder which parents would have avoided before giving birth to such children.

Children with ADHD problems do not make notable progress in their academics and social life. The disorder pulls them out of the focus. So far, there is no known cure for ADHD but parents are encouraged to spend more time with such children. Parents of such children also need to go for training to be able to handle their children appropriately. Though, this is not an easy task, it should be done focus and care. The children should not be left alone on their own, they need enough love to them get back with their lives.

Inflammatory Myopathies are often grouped under neuromuscular diseases though they also fulfill some of the features of Primary Muscle Diseases. Inflammatory Myopathies are also referred to as Myositis.

Such muscle diseases are characterized by widespread inflammation among the voluntary muscles and nearby tissues, including the joints and ligaments. The symptoms are very similar to rheumatoid arthritis where the patient cannot perform the simplest of physical activities without feeling extreme pain in the muscles and joints. The skin too might develop purple or reddish patches that are indicative of the blood vessels under the skin being attacked by the body’s immune system, i.e. most Inflammatory Myopathies are actually autoimmune connective tissue syndromes. Inflammatory Myopathies usually affect the thighs, hips and back and often lead to weight-loss.

Natural Progesterone Cream is one of the most popular forms of progesterone supplementation. Also referred to as a hormonal replacement aid and used as a part of hormone supplementation therapies, natural Progesterone cream are essentially external aids that carry a regulated amount of the hormone, Progesterone. Such creams are usually referred to women who are suffering from a Progesterone deficiency, particularly those who have been diagnosed with low levels of this hormone as a part of their blood-work analysis. Such progesterone cream are commonly used by menopausal women who are trying to conceive.

This is understandable since progesterone is the chief hormone in the female body, defining many aspects of their reproductive functions. In the lack of sufficient Progesterone, a woman is likely to suffer from menstrual and ovulation problems. Such issues are a direct deterrent to the chances of conceiving naturally. Similarly, women who are trying to delay the onset of menopause, i.e. pre-menopausal women, too use natural Progesterone creams. These creams are easily available in the over-the-counter format and are reasonably priced. They are easy-to-use and ensure that Progesterone is absorbed through the skin, i.e. transdermal supply of hormone. This ensures a more controlled and gradual uptake of Progesterone into the body, alleviating fears of overdosing or reacting adversely to a Progesterone supplement aid.

The cannula is a standard instrument in medical practice. Its very name hints at its function as well as its appearance, for cannula comes from the Latin term for a small reed, which means its plural form is also after the Latin plural, cannulae. A cannula is best described as a (generally metal) tube inserted into the human body for various therapeutic or medical purposes, usually for either extraction or introduction of fluids. An example of a cannula you typically find in hospitals or clinics is the venous cannula, whichas its name impliesis used to deliver or extract fluids to the veins.

Now there are several kinds of cannula, ranging from the bias grind cannula type to the standard Trocar. Cannulae are not always associated with pricking instruments (or needle-type devices), however, as there are also some medical cannulae that do not require piercing of the skin in order to discharge their proper functions. For example, there are such things as nasal cannulae, which are typically used in hospitals to aid the respiratory movements (that is to say, the breathing) of a patient whose breathing is laboured for some reason or other. Nasal cannulae are often larger than the needle-type cannulae and are also flexible, primarily because no piercing is required and they need the flexibility to permit doctors to manoeuvre them down a throat. Nasal cannulae are often inserted into existing orifices for respiration, such as the mouth or the nostrils, and are then gently eased down the throat by trained physicians. The idea is to use these cannulae as vehicles for the introduction of medical gases. For example, cannulae are often used to introduce anaesthesia to a patient prior to a major surgery.

Cannulae are indispensable to the current world of medicine, and it is even safe to say that no medical professional is ever without at least one of them in his office. Cannulae are also used in other fields, however, although in rather different forms and often for the purpose of running research tests in a laboratory.

Infants and newborns do not have the ability of blowing their noses for them to remove the nasal mucous. It is recommended by Doctors that mucous be removed whenever possible through the use of baby nasal aspirators to reduce discomfort and to prevent infection that may spread to the babys ears.

Nasal aspirators for babies are often used by parents in removing mucous and are readily available in the market.

There are 3 kinds of nasal aspirators that you may choose to use for your baby.

The battery powered. This is a strong device but they actually are not much level headed than the bulb ones. The deepest mucus is the most hard to get and they just do not pull hard.

The bulb syringe. Bulb syringe are not the best one but hospitals gives you this nasal aspirator when they discharge you with your baby. The problem with this is their limited suction ability which causes more irritation and hassle than comfort to your baby.

Self suctioning. This is the most effective to use through this baby aspirators; you have a complete control over the strength of the suction. Your lungs do the work. On the other hand, many parents are hesitant to use self-suctioning baby nasal aspirators for a number of reasons. Some of them think that they will grab the babys germs. A good self-suctioning baby nasal aspirator is designed specifically to prevent water and mucous from traveling to the operator.

Keeping your baby healthy is a tiresome process, so do not be overwhelmed or neglect important details. Some of the biggest troubles can be prevented by simple health care procedures, such as using a baby nasal aspirator when your baby has a cold.

All these type of baby nasal aspirators will have their own advantage and disadvantages, the best thing to do is to check with a doctor or pharmacist which one will be appropriate for your case and to your baby as well.

Oxygen concentrator is a medical instrument that provides oxygen therapy to patients with respiratory illnesses. Oxygen concentrator controls oxygen that is more pure than the oxygen in the air we breathe. It has become notably more popular than compressed air tanks. Unlike oxygen tanks, oxygen concentrators do not run the risk of leaking and causing explosions or sometimes fires. This is the reason oxygen concentrators are safer to use in emergency and military situations where the likelihood of accident is very high. They are also used in some industrial applications, though their primary use is for medical treatment.

As we all know there is oxygen in the air that we breathe. Approximately, the air we breathe is made up of 21% oxygen and 78 nitrogen and about 1% argon. Oxygen concentrators suck in air and filter out nitrogen, leaving pure oxygen. Oxygen concentrators contain two Zeolite towers that are filled with aluminum silicate. Room air is then compressed and pumped into these towers, where the aluminum silicate absorbs the nitrogen. The nitrogen subsequently vented out of the Zeolite towers, and the pure oxygen is pumped into a storage tank where it is held until needed by the patient. There are stationary and mobile oxygen concentrators, both of them are run by conventional power sources as well as batteries.

There is a new development in oxygen therapy. It is called the Pulse Dose technology. It comes together with the new oxygen concentrators. Traditional oxygen concentrators have provided continuous oxygen supply to a patient regardless the patient was inhaling or exhaling. A pulse dose system delivers oxygen in fixed increments that correspond to the inhalation component of the patients breathing cycles. In this regard, pulse dose technology prevents oxygen from being wasted and it increases the efficiency of an oxygen concentrator. This kind of technology is particularly important in portable oxygen concentrators which have limited storage.

Breast cancer is a type of cancer that affects the breasts. The most common type of breast cancer is the one that starts from the milk ducts. Number of women who are diagnosed with breast cancer is second to the number of women diagnosed with skin cancer. Breast cancer can affect both men and women, but women are more commonly affected by breast cancer.

Public awareness and support for breast cancer has increased. This has led to development of new methods to detect breast cancer as well as treat it. Thus the chances of people who die of breast cancer has reduced, but one should understand that early detection is the best way to fight the disease. So if one knows the symptoms than one will know when to go to the doctor.

Some of the breast cancer signs and symptoms are

Inverted nipple

The skin on the breast starts turning red and pitting like an orange skin.

Either nipple or breast skin starts flaking, scaling and peeling

Size or shape of the breast undergoes changes

A lump or thickening on the breast that gives a different feeling when compared to the surrounding area. This lump usually does not hurt when touched.

Nipple gives an unusual discharge. This discharge be clear yellow, green, bloody and may look like pus.

Changes takes place on the skin covering the breasts including dimpling.

Swelling start appearing in the armpits

Areas under the skin that feels like hardened marble

Pain in the breasts that varies from constant ache to stabbing pain

Itching

Areola changes both in color and texture

Breast feels warm to touch.

Breasts cancer signs and symptoms in men are

Breast discomfort or pain

Weight loss

Swelling of one arm near the breast that is affected by cancer

Skin ulcers

Bone pain

Remember that these are possible signs of breast cancer. You should let the doctor decide whether you have it or not.

We always think that nasal congestion is because of the mucus that builds up in the nose. Actually that is incorrect. Nasal congestion is because of membranes that line the nose becoming swollen due to inflamed blood vessels. The membranes become swollen when some foreign body comes into contact with the membrane. When this happens, the body releases a chemical called histamine. Histamine increases blood flow to the causing swelling and congestion. The membranes then produce mucus which is way of flushing out the foreign bodies.

When a child is born, it has a natural instinct to breathe through the nose. The baby is very sensitive to a lot of things, and it is very easy for it to get nasal congestion. This can be because of dry air, irritants in the air, some form of infections, allergies, foreign bodies, and over use of nasal drops.

When a baby gets nasal congestion, it could also get other complications that could be more serious. The baby may not be able to feed properly, and this may cause distress. Since the ear, nose and throat are connected, long term nose congestion could lead to hearing problems and delayed speech development.

It is absolutely imperative that the congestion in the nose is cleared as quickly as possible. Use a baby aspirator for this.

A baby nasal aspirator is like a light bulb with a long nose. First, ensure that the baby aspirator is made of a non-latex material. Unless it is brand new, ensure it is properly sterlised. The best would be to have a few and keep them setrlised so that you have the time to clean and sterlise a few.

Make the baby lie down on it’s back and gently hold the head. Remember, the baby will try to resist and may even cry. You have to be very gentle. Holding the aspirator with one hand and away from the baby, press the bulbous part of the aspirator with your thumb and fingers. Now insert the nose into the baby’s nose very carefully. Dont push hard, it has to go in just a few millimeters. The minute you sense an obstruction, hold the aspirator there. Gently relax your thumb and fingers so that the bulb expands slowly. The resulting vacuum in the bulb will draw the mucus out. Repeat this a few times with a clean baby aspirator till you feel the mucus is out and the baby is breathing easily.

When you are doing this, ensure that the bulb’s nose does not touch the baby’s skin. Also make sure you do not do it more than a few times a day. Look closely at the baby’s nose and look out for skin irritation. If you see even the smallest indication, stop the process and ask for professional help.

Portable Oxygen Concentrators

With the onset of the 2000s, manufacturers have suddenly understood the importance of mobile oxygen concentrators. These are basically oxygen generators that are, well, portable. Of course the portable nature of them means that they need battery power as well for when people are out and about but many can also be plugged into a cars cigar lighter. Basically they can be plugged in anywhere, even if people are on the move! Portable oxygen concentrators do not provide as much oxygen for as long as free standing models but they can deliver an adequate amount for someone to be able to get out and live a relatively normal life. Basically there are two kinds of home oxygen

concentrators:

Continuous flow As the name suggests, these oxygen concentrators provide a continuous flow of oxygen.

Pulse FlowPulse flow concentrators deliver oxygen when they detect that the patient is inhaling.

Uses of Home Oxygen Concentrators

The most common use is for people with respiratory problems, simply living their everyday life. In the past people with such problems would have been isolated in hospital or at home, relying on make-shift concentrators that are not really convenient to be carried around. However, with the introduction of portable devices meant that most people could come close to living a normal life. Of course they have to be constantly conscious of the level of their batteries but spare batteries can be carried and fortunately portable concentrators can be recharged in a car lighter socket.

Another use of portable home oxygen concentrators is by the US military. They have used them in Afghanistan and Iraq and they are part of the kit given to surgical teams close to and in combat zones.

Clearly the invention of the home oxygen concentrators cannot be undermined. It helps to save lives in war-zones and it also allows people with respiratory problems to leave their homes and travel the world if they want to, whereas only a few years ago they would have been stranded at either in their homes, in hospital or a nursing home!
