Posted at 12:35 am in Computers, internet

The best part about communication and its various mediums is, it is an ongoing process. It is as old as the existence of human beings on this planet. Earlier when man had not grasped the concept of language of grammar and skill, he still managed to communicated with the use of symbols and symiotics. Just when the world of technology thought that, there are no more means to improvising communication, a concept called VoIP hit the computer generation. VoIP, also known as Voice over Internet Protocol is a technology that allows telephone calls to be made over the Internet. It converts analog voice signals into digital data packets and supports conversation that occur in real time using the Internet Protocol also known as IP.

The calls through VoIP can be made through a VoIP service provider and excellent computer sound systems. In other cases, some service providers support VoIP through ordinary telephones which have special adapters. At times they provide free VoIP service too. These adapters are connected to the home computer. The main reason why VoIP gained so much popularity over International Subscriber Dialling (ISD) is because the traditional overseas phone calls spelt high charges for callers. That is when VoIP was introduced.

There are a number of reasons why VoIP is popular amongst today’s generation, who have friends or relatives living abroad. This technology allows them to be in touch constantly. There are also numerous advantages some of which are listed as follows:

It is very easy to use. It is also very similar to making a phone call from a telephone. The difference is, lies in the process voice packets are transferred from one PC to another
It is very cheap. If the consumer or caller has a high speed internet connection, additional prices are eliminated. There are some providers who offer free VoIP service too.
Offers more information. Once a call has been made or received the VoIP offers details about the callers which are then stored on a computer
There are numerous options offered by VoIP. There are options such as voice mail call waiting, conference calling, caller ID and so on
There is always network. Unlike phones which do not complete calls in the absence of network, VoIP uses Internet, it can be used anywhere so long as the place has broadband.

Different programs offer different advantages and disadvantages for their individual VoIP. Some of them are listed below in brief:

1)Microsoft Live Messenger- Another famous free VoIP service is the Microsoft Live Messengers. Formerly it was used as an instant messaging portal but now it has added several features such as video conferences, SMSs to phones and so on.

2)Skype- Skype allows to talk to multiple people at a time. Callers can host not only individual calls, but also conference calls with utmost ease. It also allows video conferences, which is important in business conference calls. It charges around $30 a year for unlimited calls to the US.

This is an excellent form of technology and with the help of exciting offers and features one can keep in touch with their near and dear ones on a regular basis.

Posted at 12:05 am in Computers,Software

A photo speaks a thousand words and an edited photograph even more. In the earlier days, when people were unhappy with the kind of photo, that came out, that was. There was no way of fixing the damage that was done. This mentality gave rise to the need to be able edit photographs too. That was when the concept of photo editing software hit the markets. Earlier the softwares could either be used for a fee or had to be bought. Now those days are far behind. These days if one is unable to purchase software, one can invest in free photo editing software. These softwares can be used in multiple ways to change a photograph. Most of these softwares are developed by individuals. Some of these softwares are listed as follows:

1)GIMP: It is an open source photo or graphic editing software developed for Linux/Unix. It is often compared to Photoshop and at times, is also known as “free Photoshop”. This is because it has features like the interface, similar to Photoshop but it also has a steep learning curve. It is one of the softwares developed by individuals, there are possibilities of glitches, but most people have used it without complaints

2)Photoscape:There are many features in Photoscope and it is very easy to use. Some of the features which are popular are editor, viewer, batch processor, file renamer, Raw converter, screen capture tool, print layout tool, color picker and more. It is a free photo editing software.

3)Serif PhotoPlus: Serif has done a lot in the past to ensure the loyalty of its users. Lately, it has introduced the Serif PhotoPlus which unlike the other versions, is offered for free. Earlier times, one had to purchase the software which wasn’t possible for some of the users. So as a compromise, Serif offers a free but limited edition of the latest version.

4)Paint. NET: This is a software which offers free image and graphics manipulation. It is primarily meant for Windows Operating Systems such as 2000, Vista, XP or Server 2003. The software also has features such as drawing and painting tools, layers, levels adjustment (for colors), special effects and so on.

The free photo software has tools such as tools for creating computer graphics, advanced image enhancing, editing tools and functions, special effects, rich text tools, gradients, layes and mask, script tools, batch operations and so on.

The popularity of a free photo editing software are usually based on the number of features it offers and how user friendly it is and at times, whether it is free or if one has to pay for it. These days even phones offer photo editing tools, but the features are mostly restricted to crop and changing the color setting. To turn a simple image into a plethora of colors and images one needs a reasonable photo editing software.

Forensic Science – the Top Technology   no comments

Posted at 7:04 am in Science

With shows such as Castle and Bones gaining popularity, the field of forensic science have suddenly gained ranking on the popularity ladder too. The sudden emergence of forensic has led many to believe that it is a recent addition to the field of science. But the truth is far from that. What is forensic science, exactly? Forensic scientists have been working alongside detectives and crime inspectors for many years. The field gained prominence back in 1784, when the police found a wad of paper in a victim’s head wound, which incidentally matched the newspaper in the murderer’s pocket, which helped the police to nab him.

The term is an umbrella term that covers broad range of specialities such as physical, digital and biological data and uses scientific techniques for legal purposes. If the term is used loosely, it covers all forms of policing such as food and substance regulation to criminal investigations. It is the application of some basic criminology science to the enforcement of laws within the criminal justice system.

To understand what is forensic science it is necessary to dig deeper, literally. It took a step ahead in the detection and prosecution in the beginning of the twentieth century. It took an even bigger leap in its field when molecular genetics developed enough to concept of technologies of DNA fingerprinting which was pioneered by 1984. Once this technique became common with the police enforcement, it played a major transformative role in detective fiction. This elevated the significance of amateur detectives and the characters of policemen were added as either foil to the detective or as bumbling comic characters, such as Thompson and Thomsons in the comic book Tintin.

The origins of modern forensic science, as mentioned above, dates back to centuries but one of the most significant developments was the creation of FBI forensic science laboratory in 1932. This is one of the largest laboratory dealing with forensics. Not to mention, the various crime labs at state, county, municipal and federal levels are modelled around the FBI laboratory.

What forensic science is, involves capable to change and its disciples should be able to adapt to change. It is challenging and is prone to evolution. If a person is not susceptible of change, he will have to, since this field of science is different from all other fields,. Along with physical exertion, there are psychological factors too. When forensic scientists deal with a crime, they not only establish the time, date and weapon used to commit the crime, but also the reason or motive for the murder. To top that, they also need to establish the psychological profile of the culprit too. Forensic scientists also need to have a working knowledge of the law too, to know if the conclusion they come up with, can be admitted in a court of law.

These scientists also need to every step they take with utmost care and precision. At times, they may be called upon to explain the purpose of their actions. This field is great for people who have an interest in crime and psychology. It is an excellent line if one likes working his/her brain cells and apprehending criminals.

Invoice – the Buyer And the Seller Agreement   no comments

Posted at 6:36 am in business

Before knowing how to create an invoice it is important to fully understand what an invoice constitutes of. It is a bill of transaction that is usually sent by a seller or a manufacturer to the buyer as proof of the transaction. It is also a directive issued to the buyer, for the purposes of payment. An invoice usually includes the details of the agreement that were decided between the buyer and the seller. There is a fixed time period mentioned on the invoice, within which the payment should be made. The buyer is allowed some discount, if he pays earlier than the term determined. There are different fields that make up an invoice, but that will be discussed, in the following points:

Name of the business organization
Date of the creation of the invoice
The phone number of the organization
The name of the buyer
Description of the goods and services provided
The total amount that is owed
The taxes that have been incurred, for instance Goods and Services Taxes (GST) charges 5% and Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) charges at 13%, or at times the HST and GST may be combined. It needs to be mentioned in the invoice
In exceptional cases, taxes such as Retails Sales Tax (RST) or Provincial Sales Tax (PST) are also added to the final price of the product.

An invoice is used as a proof of transaction between companies or individual buyers and sellers. Although the purpose is the same, the invoices used for each transaction differs from company to company and also the nature of the transaction. To illustrate, there are different forms of invoices:

1)Invoice Proforma- This kind of invoice is usually used when dealing in foreign trading. This testifies the capability of a seller to deliver the products at a particular price and time.
2)Commercial invoice- This is usually in cases where shipping and other parameters are involved.
3)Credit Memo-This is usually used, when the buyer returns the goods to the seller and gets this memo as the amount of money he receives from the seller. It is an invoice that makes a note of the refund the buyer receives.
4)Debit Memo- In case, a company is unable to make a payment on time, it issues a memo for the amount to be paid inclusive of the penalty or interest.

There is a reason why invoices are an important part of business dealing. This is because, it is a proof of work actually done, or the proof of payment being made. So, in the future, if there is an occasion, where the project or transaction is contested, producing an invoice helps to settle the dispute. One point to be kept in mind is, make sure all the information required by the customer and filled by the seller to create an invoice.

To create an invoice is easy, both manually and using the computer. There are many websites and programs that helps one create as many customized invoices as required.

How to Measure CPU Temperature   no comments

Posted at 6:19 am in Computers

The computer is a very important part of our lives. It is unimaginable to imagine lives without this machine. Given its importance, utmost care must be taken of it. People usually spend time and money on the monitor or to keep the machine free of viruses but what they forget to take care of the most important part of any computer. This component is the Central Processing Unit or the CPU. In school, children are taught that the CPU is the brain of the computer and all the important functions of the computer take place there. The CPU is also a machine and aspects of it must be scrutinized. For instance, if there is some internal problem, it is a sound idea to check the CPU temperature. This problem may come to light when the heat or the other fans in the tower stop working. This may result in the speed of the computer reducing.

This problem is more complicated than one realizes. Since there are are so many brands of CPU processors and motherboards, it is difficult to determine the mean temperature the CPU should be subjected to. To add to the confusion, the sensor and the software that is used also differs from PC to PC. However after several trial and error methods, it has been determined that the average CPU temperature should never exceed 95C and unit runs between 70C to 90C. To check a temperature, one can boot the computer and go to the BIOS set up and check the temperature there.

There are some other indications that show the computer is not working, the way it should. The signs to watch out for are listed below:

Computer crashes too often
Computer works too slowly, when previously it worked faster
It locks itself, without provocation
The sound of the fans in the computer start acting erratic. They may be loud at times and at other times, slow.

The cause in the rise of the CPU temperature is usually due to over use of the computer. The heat builds up and then it results in overheating. The heating may also escalate if the computer use resides in a warm or a hot area where there is not much scope of coolants.  As mentioned previously, every computer has a BIOS where one can check the temperature of both the CPU and the system.

The temperature of every CPU processor is different; for instance, the processor for AMD is usually Idle: 30 to 45 Load: 50 to 70. It is slower and takes more time to heat up as compared to Intel Idle: 40 to 55 Load: 50 to 70.

In case there is overheating, here are some steps that can be taken to bring down the temperature:

One needs to make sure the heat-sink is working properly or not.
Location of the computer in a hot area leads to the rise in the temperature of the CPU
Inducing extenal influences such as heat pipes or phase-changing cooling and water cooler are good steps to bring down the temperature.

When jobs are getting so limited, individuals are seeking techniques of supplementing their existing income or trying to uncover substitute methods of earning an income besides a 9-5 job.

As a result numerous people now have 2, or even 3 jobs, or in the case of individuals who were unemployed, they obtain an evening job which allows them to have their days free and in a few cases to work from home. But what does an evening job require and how does an individual go about securing one?

Well typically evening jobs will be like jobs which are done 9-5, nursing, bartending, truck driving, sales, stock trading, mail sorting. These are simply some of the evening jobs which are available; evening jobs can include shorter hours than regular day jobs and possess the added perk of paying as much as or more than a regular day job. But it may be highly difficult to acquire an evening job and more so to locate one which pays good, so here are a few tips about evening jobs, the most beneficial ones and how to get one.

The initial step in landing a good evening job is to use the resource right at your fingertips – the worldwide web. There are quite a number of websites on the internet which will show you a listing of evening jobs. Where they are located, the prerequisites for obtaining one and the salary that goes along with it so that interested individuals know everything that is included and knows from the very outset whether or not he/she is certified for a job and should apply for the vacancy.

If you do find a job online which you are qualified for and which you feel is what you are seeking for, you may go ahead and apply on the worldwide web or physically turn in your application to the potential employer. Going in person does have numerous benefits and your application will be more impressionable if your employer has a chance to see you. However, this is not a requirement therefore if it is easier for you to apply on the internet then you can.

Besides the financial advantages of working in the evening there are other advantages such as: less traffic to struggle with, reduced meetings and a increased likelihood of being promoted as there are less workers on the evening shift. Obviously working evenings implies that one works into the night and loses out on being home with his/her family.

Nevertheless it is achievable to possess an evening job while still finding family time if one has one of several home office jobs. With a home office job a person may be either self employed or working for a corporation without leaving the safety of his/her home. Internet marketing is a accurate example of a home office job that pays well while letting employees to set their own hours and at the same time have a full-time job if they desire.

While money is most likely the largest drive when people set out to get an evening job, it is not the sole aspect to think about; if people are attempting to locate an evening job while keeping a normal day job. It is advised to choose an evening job which is not so excessively demanding that it prevents you from getting a good, productive day job. Individuals want to make sure that he/she are not so exhausted by one job that you are not able to correctly carry out the other, or are not able to properly go when you are engaged in other activities.

Various Symptoms Of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome   no comments

Posted at 6:56 am in Diseases

The disease Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) is a rare nerve disorder. It’s symptoms usually causes intense pain and the affected areas may be hands, arms, legs and feet. It usually happens after a serious injury to the tissue or nerve of the affected areas. The disorder is also called Causalgia. The cause responsible for the disorder is unknown. The pain often spreads to the entire arm or leg. Some of the changes observed in the affected areas post the disorder are dramatic changes in the color and temperature of the skin of the affected limb. Other symptoms also include skin sensitivity, intene burning pain, swelling and sweating. Although there are some theories behind the cause of this disorder, the authenticity of these theories are questionable. One theory is the cause behind the sustainance of the pain may be the sympathetic nervous system. The other speculation is the CPRS is caused by the triggering of the immune response which leads to the inflammation in the affected area.

The various symptoms of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome are listed as below:

A burning, painful pain in the affected region (usually an arm, leg, hand oe foot)
Change in skin color (may turn red, blue or white)
The affected area may be sensitive to touch, temperature
Change in skin texture (either too thin or shiny)
Loss of movement in affected areas
Muscle pain and weakness

Although it is a rare disorder, most doctors are familiar with it. The doctor will make a diagnose on the basis of a physical exam and the pain symptoms. The above symptoms will help the doctor make a correct diagnosis. Although, the disease is diagnosable, there is no one single test to determine Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. For instance, the doctor may take a test to check the skin temperature and the amount of blood circulation to a particular area. In case the diagnose is doubtful, a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can help determine CRPS.

There are two kinds of CRPS which have completely different causes. They are listed as follows:

1)Type one CRPS- This disorder is triggered by injuries such as ankles which are fractured or sprained. There is usually minimal nerve damage.
2)Type two CRPS- This type of disorder is caused by more serious injuries where there has been nerve damage such as an operation, a serious infection or a broken bone.

Although the disorder is rare, but it is not completely eradicated. Putting a number is hard, the estimate change from country to country. Some countries have 1 affected in 18,000 whereas others have 1 in 4000. Complex Regional Pain Syndrome is more common amongst women and people between the ages of 50 to 70.

There is solution for the disorder. Doctors usually recommend sympathetic block. This usually involves an injection of anaesthesia which obstructs the pain signals. Physiotherapy and counselling may help at times.

If the disorder is diagnosed early regular treatments may help keeping the pain from recurring. But if it is diagnosed later or if the symptoms are severe, the patients may not respond to treatments.
