When the Catering Van is the Best Option   no comments

Posted at 11:03 am in Small business

For those who would want to set up a food business that will focus more on reaching out to the community and priming profits than building it big in the industry, then the catering van would be the best option.

That’s because the main benefit of the catering van is basically the fact that it is mobile, which means that it can be moved to reach remote locations and places where there could be a large market, but the people just couldn’t go to commercial areas where there are restaurants and cafes built and constructed.

The risks of loss is also considerably less with the catering van than with the stationary restaurant, basically because with a catering van, it is the business that reaches out to its clients, and not the other way around.

The Cost of Having a Catering Van

Now, if one wants to set up a catering van business, either he buys his own set of catering vans, or he rents them. Or, he could choose to buy a conventional van and just have it renovated to suit his catering business plan.

Aside from that, of course one will also have to consider the cost of insurance as well as the payment he needs to shell out for the local authorities for the necessary permits and clearances, if there need be. But generally, the costs are lower and the preparation time less compared to that for constructing a full on resto.

Secrets of a successful Christmas hamper   no comments

Posted at 7:50 am in Food and Drink

It is almost like opening a present when a Christmas hamper arrives on the doorstep – full of surprises, delights and the knowledge you won’t need to go out and buy any cranberry sauce this year to go with the turkey.

Yet filling a Christmas hamper can be tricky – should there be booze, how do you cater for vegetarians and what is the secret to creating a really special one?

One great way of overcoming this is to have a theme for the Christmas hamper. It could be one that is just full of treats that most people wouldn’t buy for themselves very often like speciality cheese biscuits, unusual chocolates, champagne and a Christmas cake. Or the theme could be a traditional Christmas one with a turkey, the ubiquitous cranberry sauce, brandy butter, some crackers and a Christmas pudding.

Other ways to go are selecting a purely meat Christmas hamper with all the trappings, festive goodies that will please the whole family, or a Fair trade hamper, filled with eco-friendly food.

It is best not to fill with products that most people wouldn’t ever use or even know what to do with. The products should be practical otherwise they will go to waste. However on the other hand, unusual foods are great in a Christmas hamper because it means the receiver might experiment with something they have never tried before. A good example of this is an herby/spicy mix that can be blended with mayonnaise or yoghurt for a simple dip to go with carrot sticks or crisps.

Christmas is all about indulgence so even if there aren’t many products in the hamper, make sure they are special and that little bit different, from unusual sweets and fudges to Christmas chutney that is great with cold meats.

The look of the Christmas hamper is very important too. A wicker basket, the traditional method, is sturdy enough and can be used for storage afterwards.
Or you might want to be a bit different and think of another way of packing up the hamper, perhaps in a small old suitcase or a cardboard box that has been decorated with Christmas scenes.

Adding a bit of sparkle never disappoints so try bits of shiny ribbon scattered about or tiny crackers nestled in amongst the packaging straw.

If you are sending the hamper through the post, remember it must be very well protected especially if it contains glass jars and bottles.

Then sit back and wallow in the praise you get when your hamper is received with thanks and gratefulness.

Skin cancer infects people of all different skin tones and is formed on the skin organ of the body, mainly on the areas that receives more exposure to the sun. Skin cancers can also develop on areas that don’t receive as much sunlight.

There are various warnings you can see in cases of signs of skin cancer, the most common though is identifying any form of new build up on the skin surface such as small lumps and the warnings can also be different based on the category of skin cancer.

Tips and Guidelines for Wholesale Tools   no comments

Posted at 12:06 am in business

There is a extensive market for tools in general. Though tools may not be replaced regularly the demand for all types of tools remains constant. If you wish to sell tools online or in a physical store finding an appropriate supplier will be important. There are various wholesale tool distributors. Suppliers can be found by doing sufficient research and using different sources to find the wholesaler that best fits your demands and needs. You may find distributors online, in trade publications and by visiting trade shows. There a few things that you should think about before buying your tools wholesale, many of which will be briefly highlighted in the following section.

Tips and Guidelines

Shop around. It is important that you visit as many distributors as possible, by going on their websites, going directly to their place of business (if accessible) and by making calls to find out about the pricing of specific products. Many companies utilize the term wholesale without offering competitive wholesale prices. You will not know which ones are the least affordable unless you make the effort to compare their prices to many others. Once you have done adequate comparisons you can formulate a list of your top five or top ten suppliers.

Read reviews about the wholesaler or distributor on different websites. It is best not to use their website as only more favourable reviews will be placed on their website. If the reviews denote that the wholesaler is satisfactory or more preferably exceptional then they are probably a possible choice.

Find out about shipping. It is important that you find out about how long it will take to have your items delivered. Selecting a wholesaler that is affordable yet that never ships on time will mostly disrupt your ability to make a profit. This means that if the supplier does not deliver when the demand is high your potential customers will go elsewhere. Also you need to maintain some level of consistency if you wish to operate a flourishing enterprise. If you cannot rely on your distributor then you cannot maintain an effective business relationship.

Always familiarize yourself with the terms and conditions that are laid out by the particular distributor. Do not overlook this essential factor as this may lead to unnecessary misunderstandings. It is especially important to find out about any return policies or any other guarantees they may have put in place to make doing business with them more worthwhile.

You should aim to buy quality products not just necessarily inexpensive or affordable products. If you buy products that are made from poor components then you will not establish a solid reputation as a reseller or retailer of tools. Try to maintain a satisfactory balance between affordability and quality.

Find out what the minimum amount is that you will need to purchase. In the initial stages it is imperative that you order the smallest amount possible to see how easily the products are sold and also to get a fair idea of how long the wholesaler will take to ship the product. In addition you will be able to assess the quality of the tools that you have bought. Buying in large quantities may be advantageous especially if you find that once you have bought the product you are not satisfied with the quality and/or service.

Buy a large variety of tools that can be used in any kind of project. Do not stock up on too much of any individual item. You can visit your local hardware to see how their inventory compares to get a much better idea of what you should be looking for when buying tools. You can also perform additional research to better understand what the average person’s tool needs are like.If you are given the option to speak directly to your suppliers you should take that opportunity to arrange better deals and establish a good business rapport with your prospective supplier.

Know About Telephone Sales Skills   no comments

Posted at 11:53 pm in business

Adopting the correct attitude and technique will primarily influence the ability of a telephone sales representative to complete any sale. There are specific guidelines and tips that are imperative in improving sales technique, that once implemented, will improve overall performance.

A few of the more essential ones will be looked at briefly in this article. Maintaining a career within this field will necessitate a proven track record of success which is easily realized by judging how many sales are made on a daily basis. Each representative is usually given a quota that should be met if he or she is to be thought of as successful at the given task.

Many of these calls are frequently monitored by employers or supervisors to guarantee that the customers are being treated properly and also that the sales person is carrying out his or her duties in accordance with certain professional standards. It is hence, very important that all telesales representatives have the necessary knowledge and techniques to perform at the expected levels of professionalism and competence.

Tips on telephone sales skills

Create or use an attractive opening statement. Having a powerful opening statement will make certain that you will make the best initial impression possible. If you are not persistent in using a properly constructed opening statement you may soon realize that you are not able to connect with your customers very easily from the outset of the call.
You must sound confident when you speak to your customer.

Any self doubt will be apparent in your voice. Even though you will not be directly speaking to your customer face to face he or she will be able to detect the tell tale signs of little or no self confidence. You will need to speak at a steady and consistent pace that is audible but not overbearingly excessive.

Know your product. Do not start selling any product until you have learnt all you must about the product. Study the product as you would a lesson learnt during your schooling period. Most companies will hire trainers to help you in this area. While in training you will be intermittently tested on your knowledge of the product(s). However because it is easy to forget some of what you have learnt it is consequently essential to consistently reread all the information you have at your disposal.

Believe in your product. Knowing your product is a great achievement, but you should also believe in what you are selling. Though most people will enter these jobs and not care about what they are selling, you should still be able to convince yourself that this product is beneficial. If you do not believe in the product it will affect your overall confidence. Simply put: no product confidence = no self or sale confidence.

Build a rapport with the customer. You may do this by asking the customer how he or she is doing before immediately starting the conversation about your product. Once you recognize some common ground, have a short but meaningful conversation about whatever may inspire some interest.

Listen. Always listen to what your customer is saying even if you think you know exactly what he or she will say. Do not interrupt the customer while he or she is speaking to mention or clarify any points, allow him or her to say all that needs to be said. To let him or her know that you are listening, once he or she has finished speaking, which will be apparent by the pause, repeat what he or she has said in the form of a question.

For example: “So you are saying you’d like a lotion that doesn’t make the skin feel oily but that will still keep it soft yet firm” By repeating exactly what  he or she has said you will be able to let your customer know that what he or she has said is extremely vital.

Practice your technique. Once you have understood all that you need to do, it will be important that you practice. You can do this by role playing. Stage mock calls with friends or associates in your work environment to test how well you perform your phone skills. Create different scenarios that will exercise your ability to handle different kinds of customers. Once you have mastered these techniques in practice it will be easier to apply them in realistic conversations.

An Introduction to Sales Negotiation Skills   no comments

Posted at 11:35 pm in business

There are a few techniques that every sales person should employto improve overall productivity. Employing a sound method will ensure that you will perform at the maximum levels of efficiency and produce more sales. Some of these techniques are listed in this article in an easy to follow format.

Practice Your Sales Negotiation Skills

Many sales people and indeed people in general do not like to negotiate because of a lack of self confidence. Hence it is important to develop this very essential quality to selling and purchasing by practising your negotiation techniques as often as you can. You can do this by negotiating discounts with your supplier. Even in regular situations when you are the consumer you should attempt to receive any discount that is available.

Have a Good Opening Statement

Preparing a good opening statement  will considerably increase the likelihood that you will make a sale. An estimated 70 – 80% of successful sales are directly as the result of an enticing and persuasive opening statement. The old adage “first impressions are lasting” is applicable here once you have delivered an effective opening statement. It is unquestionably vital.

Display Self Confidence

You will bot be an effective sales person without a certain level of self confidence. To do this you must first believe in your ability to convince others and secondly  you must believe in the value of your product. Is it worth the asking price? Does it fulfil a need? Would you buy this product or recommend it to family and friends? Are all very good questions you should ask yourself and consequently confirm to be true.

Establish Client Confidence and Trust

It is vital that your prospective clients trust you and feel a great sense of comfort speaking to you. It is not rare for a person to choose to buy a product based on the competence and favourable view of the sales person over the price of the product. A disagreeable sales person with the best price is usually incomparable to the sale person with a moderately priced product and a charming and captivating personality.

Induce Action

This is an easy part of the process yet sadly, is often neglected. It is perhaps one of the principal reasons that sales are not finalized. You must prompt your customer to take quick action. Do not get too relaxed and assume that they  will suddenly decide to accept the offer you are providing.

Know When to Stop Trying to Persuade A Client

It is important to know when to cease trying. This is especially a standing recommendation for travelling sales people who will do door to door sales. If you are not successful in stimulating the clients interest after many attempts you should stop on your own accord. It may not be your technique but a lack of a need.

Follow Up

This is is an invaluable part of salesmanship, you should always try and follow this recommendation. Keep in touch with your prospect or customer. Seek to provide noteworthy after-sales service. Demonstrate your genuine nature and show your client that your concern for him or her is just as true as it was before the sale was finalized.

Lets Know How to Grill Salmon   no comments

Posted at 11:21 pm in Cooking

Salmon on the grill is a basic preparation that is hard to spoil once you know what you are doing. It only takes a few minutes of grilling time to get the flawless savory flavor that salmon can deliver.  It often best to buy salmon that has the skin on it when you are preparing by grill. Before that you have to know how to grill salmon.

There are multiple ways to prepare salmon for grilling, including using a little salt and pepper and some olive oil which is by far the most straightforward method of preparation.  Mayonnaise can also be applied to one side of the salmon before placing on the grill.

For a  marinade, whisk together 3 tablespoons soy sauce, 6 tablespoons olive oil, 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic and 2 tablespoons mustard. Brush the marinade on top of the fish (skin side down) before putting salmon on the grill. When your salmon is finished grilling, pour the remainder of the marinade on top. This is enough marinade for three pounds of salmon, or 5-6 servings.

The first main point to good grilled salmon is to prepare the grill the right way.  The grill should be medium-hot when you place the fish on it.   when using a charcoal grill, coals should be bright red and flames should have subsided before the fish is placed on the grill.  Heap the coals to the side so there is a ‘hot’ area and a ‘warm’ area. With a gas grill fix temperature between 300 and 325 degrees.

To test grill temperature place your hand 4 inches above the grill and start counting the seconds. If you do keep your hand over the grill for 4-5 seconds, the grill is medium hot. If you have to move your hand in 2-3 seconds, the temperature needs to be reduced.

Place the salmon on the warm point of the grill.  Turn the salmon over after 3 – 5 minutes. Allow it to cook on the other side for 3 minutes. merely cover the grill if you have a gas grill, but this is discretional.  Place the salmon on the hottest section of the grill to get grill marks on it – about a minute on each side.  Do not overcook the salmon.

When you removeyour salmon fillets from the grill, they will continue to cook a little as they sit,  so they should look a little raw inside upon removal from the grill. To ascertain doneness, touch the fish: if it’s a bit soft it’s not done, but if it’s firm with some give, it is medium rare.  Absolutely firm is fully done.
